Kerslake report on rough sleeping

Homelessness a housing and health issue

We’re proud to have contributed to the Kerslake Commission’s report on tackling rough sleeping after Covid-19.

Among other recommendations, the report calls for greater focus on homelessness as both a housing and a health issue.

Our teams have been working throughout the pandemic, helping people in communities across Kent to manage their mental health and deal with any problems early on so they can stay well and keep their homes.

People like Mike who was struggling with his mental health following the death of his partner. Mike no longer had enough money to live on but because he was grieving, he didn’t feel strong enough to deal with his financial situation.

He was finding it hard to buy food and other necessities and was falling into debt. We connected Mike with professional mental health services and helped him to apply for temporary financial support and the correct benefits.

If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't be in this place. I can't thank you enough

But there’s thousands more people like Mike who are struggling like never before.

We need the government to take urgent action by following the Kerslake report’s recommendations and providing long-term investment so that charities, health and housing providers can continue to deliver local solutions and prevent rising street homelessness.
